Recently, we re-visited the Awilihan Resort, a lovely little spot found on the edge of Taal Lake in Tanauan City, Batangas. Last February we came across this private resort during the Tanauan Sailing Festival, where the sailors and participants had stopped on the first day for lunch being hosted by the owners Rene and his wife, Rica.
It is about an hour’s drive from Makati, and since it is a private resort, it allows for only one group at a time to rent the facilities. It was perfect for the overnight mini-family vacation with the nieces, nephews, cousins and such (Tiny the dog).
The resort can host a small office group or accommodate a wedding reception, and with beautiful backdrops of the lake area around Taal Volcano it is excellent for lasting photographic memories.
When we arrived there at 4PM we were greeted by the warm, friendly staff who had the resort ready for us and provided with first class treatment.
The rest house is big enough with an air-conditioned living room, dining area and a spacious gazebo (fully furnished). The sleeping quarters are all located on the second floor, with two rooms with 4 beds each and a sala with beds also that can accommodate up to 10 persons. Of course, the restrooms are all very clean and well maintained with hot and cold showers.
In addition to the swimming pool and basketball court, the spacious grounds of the Awilihan Resort offers a lush garden and a separate yoga/massage area with a fishing pond. The activity area houses a billiard and ping pong tables and for those “Voice” wanna-be’s a videoke machine is available for the all night family singalongs.
We chose to avail of their menu package, which was very affordable for dinner the first night and breakfast and lunch the following day. (Guests can bring their own food, but if they do they must bring their own utensils; use of the refrigerator and kitchen is free.)
The family really enjoyed their stay there as it was a chance to get out of the hot city and relax with cool breezes from the lake while not being too far from home.
The rates were very reasonable for the group overnight stay. The staff was always friendly, professional and accommodating and gave us world class treatment. When we left at 5PM the following day we promised ourselves we would recommend the resort to our friends and one day be coming back.
