Whenever I chance upon a scene like this and it is not in a rush, I do pause briefly and we engage in a short, small conversation. I’m usually asked in English where I’m from and how long I’m here, and I try and practice a few Tagalog words I know on them. No politics (that’s the city of Manila mayor’s picture hanging there, Estrada, also an ex-president), but the weather is freely discussed and it’s always the same – mainit (hot) 😉
Stephen, thank you for the insight description of such events. It’s nice to know about politics issue. It was in 1996 when I was in Bagio City. There I attended a number of Rotary meetings and there was lots of discussion of politic.
I spent about 3 months in a Rotary club in Makati, which was in the process of combining two chapters (?) into one. The political infighting drove me away…
Very nice capture. Lots of narrative here.

Stephen, you’re welcome.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to listen in or better participate in their conversation.
