the barrio: and carry on

My wanderings through the ward usually make for many encounters with kids. Their curious looks and smiling faces are infectious…

After the sun has been up in the sky for a while, I often encounter a shy one who’s face I can’t capture, but…

..and then there’s the not-so-shy ones usually getting baked.

Finally, there’s always one guy I encounter who obviously runs the place because he certainly carries himself as such.

the barrio: welcome

Another early morning and just about everybody is up…has been up.

Each time I take these morning strolls, I’m sometimes met with a look of surprise; other times the people find they have better things to do instead of studying me…

But nearly always there are warm welcome signs, and occasionally IĀ get a laugh when I try my attempts to speak Tagalog; magandang means beautiful and can be used in reference to mornings, or women..

…and of course, there’s finding the future is just about to begin another adventurous day…
